Ed McMahon Now Gone
Sometimes someone passes. Someone you never met in person, but was always there. Having been born in 1960, Ed McMahon was always there for me. He was one of those guys that I grew up with. I watched him on the Tonight Show, Jerry Lewis and his Telethons, Star (GULP) Search, interviews (I liked the one he did about WC fields) and commercials. There is a twinge of sadness in me today as I think about it. Not sure why, there just is. Same feeling I got when George Burns, Vincent Price, Bob Hope, Dean Martin, John Wayne, Katherine Hepburn, George Carlin, Charlton Heston, Art Carney, Jackie Gleason, Jim McCkay, Fay Wray, Forry Ackerman, Frank Sinatra, Jesse Owens, Tom Landry, Steve Reeves, George Harrison, Bo Diddley, Sammy Davis, Jack Kirby, Will Eisner, Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson and several others passed.
I guess they all left a small mark in my life. Some like Vincent Price left a big mark because he was so cool. Others made me laugh ever since I was old enough to get the jokes. Others inspired, Others were just always there. Like Tom Landry was. I have never even been a fan of the Cowboys!
So today I decided I am going to take a few moments to remember people who I have known and/or not personally known. What they might have given me. Knowingly or unknowingly. Then I am going to exercise like a demon!
Best,
Robert
